June is Pride Month—and your Portland Symphony Orchestra is celebrating! June 18th, Portland Symphony is presenting a performance in partnership with Equality Maine, especially for Pride—It’s called “Rise Up.” The music featured in the concert is not only vibrant and important—it was all written by LGBTQ composers. The program includes Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto #1…Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story… and Ethyl Smyth’s Overture from The Wreckers. With uplifting music and exciting performances, Portland Symphony will celebrate the contributions of queer artists throughout history. “Rise Up”, a special Pride Month concert from your Portland Symphony Orchestra!
